Privacy Policy — SubPulse for YouTube
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Overview
SubPulse for YouTube is a browser extension designed to help users view, filter, sort, track, and manage recent videos from YouTube channels they subscribe to.
This Privacy Policy explains what information SubPulse accesses, why it is accessed, how it is stored, and the controls available to users.
Google and YouTube Account Access
SubPulse may use Google OAuth and the YouTube Data API v3 to provide authenticated YouTube features.
When a user chooses to connect a YouTube account, Google presents the authorization screen directly to the user. SubPulse never receives or stores the user's Google password.
Depending on the version and features enabled, authorized access may be used to:
- Retrieve the user's YouTube subscriptions
- Retrieve channel and recent-upload information
- Display recent videos from subscribed channels
- Display subscription information
- Perform a user-requested unsubscribe action
SubPulse does not unsubscribe users automatically. An unsubscribe action occurs only when the user explicitly selects the option and confirms the action.
Information SubPulse May Process
To provide its functionality, SubPulse may process:
- YouTube channel IDs and channel names
- YouTube subscription information
- Video IDs
- Video titles
- Video thumbnails
- Upload and publication times
- Video duration
- View counts
- Live and upcoming-stream status
- Locally tracked watched status
- Manually removed video IDs
- Extension settings and preferences
- Notification-badge state
- Appearance settings
- Recent-feed cache information
OAuth Tokens
OAuth access and refresh tokens may be stored in browser extension storage so users do not have to reconnect their Google account every time SubPulse refreshes.
OAuth tokens are used only for authorized SubPulse functionality.
OAuth access and refresh tokens are not included in SubPulse backup exports.
Local Storage and Browser Sync
SubPulse uses browser extension storage to save information necessary for the extension to operate.
This may include:
- Settings
- Feed cache
- Watched-video information
- Removed-video history
- Removed Videos archive
- Appearance preferences
- Sync state
When supported and enabled by the user's browser, some compact settings or history information may be synchronized using the browser vendor's extension-sync system.
Backup and Import
SubPulse includes an optional Export Backup feature that creates a JSON file containing supported SubPulse settings and local history.
Backup files remain under the user's control.
OAuth credentials and OAuth access/refresh tokens are excluded from backup exports.
No Advertising or Tracking
SubPulse does not operate a developer-controlled:
- Advertising network
- Analytics service
- Behavioral tracking system
- Profiling system
- Telemetry service
SubPulse does not sell, rent, or trade user information.
Developer Servers
SubPulse does not operate a developer backend that collects users' YouTube subscription feeds for advertising or profiling.
Requests necessary to provide Google/YouTube functionality are sent to Google/YouTube services as required by the extension.
Google API Services User Data Policy
SubPulse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User Control
Users can:
- Disconnect their YouTube account from SubPulse
- Revoke SubPulse's authorization through their Google Account
- Remove or restore videos in SubPulse
- Clear locally stored SubPulse history
- Export or import supported SubPulse data
- Uninstall the extension at any time
Data Retention
Locally stored SubPulse data remains in browser extension storage until it is removed by the user, cleared by the browser, or removed when the extension is uninstalled, subject to browser behavior.
Google OAuth authorization can be revoked independently through the user's Google Account.
Children
SubPulse is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when SubPulse features or data practices change. The current version will always be published on this page.
